PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for enhancing safety and speed of the transfer of a drug medicine from a first container, e.g., a large volume container, to a second container, e.g., an individual dose container.SOLUTION: A drug medicine labeling system comprises: a drug medicine identification component 104 which recognizes a first drug medicine container 132 to retrieve drug medicine identifying data for the drug medicine; a memory 112 which stores a site-specific database 116 including attributes and associated values for a set of drug medicines in the first drug medicine container; a processor 108 which obtains the drug medicine identifying data and the attributes and associated values for the drug medicine and generates information about the drug medicine; a rule engine 120 which applies one or more rules to the information about the drug medicine; and an output unit which outputs markings including drug medicine handling information associated with a second container 140. This configuration enables transfer of a drug medicine from the first drug medicine container to the second drug medicine container.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A |
