A vehicle detection system, comprising a detection channel (101), a vehicle pulling system (100) disposed in the detection channel (101), and a ray detection system (151); the vehicle pulling system (100) comprises a first pulling device (111) and a second pulling device (112) sequentially arranged in a vehicle pulling direction; in a vehicle pulling direction, the first pulling device (111) is arranged upstream of the second pulling device (112), and a spacer portion (113) is provided between the first pulling device (111) and the second pulling device (112), such that the first pulling device (111) and the second pulling device (112) are a predetermined distance apart in the vehicle pulling direction; and the path of at least a part of rays of the ray detection system (151) passes through the spacer portion (113) between the first pulling device (111) and the second pulling device (112). The vehicle detection system reduces or eliminates the effect of a pulling device on a scanning image.
