A catheter device comprises a gripper 6 for grasping the leaflet 12 of a heart valve, the gripper having a channel for housing a leaflet anchor 10 in a folded configuration; the gripper 6 and leaflet anchor 10 arranged such that the leaflet anchor 10 can be pushed out of the leaflet anchor channel to pierce the leaflet 12 and form the leaflet anchor 10 into an unfolded configuration so that hooked formations of the leaflet anchor 10 can secure the leaflet anchor 10 in the leaflet 12. Anchor 10 is preferably elastic and may be of shape memory metal. The anchor 10 is to be coupled with an artificial chord which may connect to a papillary anchor. Also claimed is an anchor for papillary muscle, the anchor having hooks and is elastic enabling it to unfold and further including a locking mechanism for adjusting the length of a chord; the locking mechanism clamps onto the chord when no force is applied. |
