PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording and reproducing device that can perform stable signal reproduction in a DRAW technique.SOLUTION: An optical recording and reproducing device in one embodiment comprises: a light source; an optical modulator for modulating the radiation power of the light source with data to be recorded; an optical branching element for separating an optical beam radiated from the light source into a plurality of light beams including a recording beam and a reproducing beam; an optical system for focusing the recording beam and the reproducing beam on the same track of an optical record medium; an optical detector for detecting the reproducing beam reflected by the optical record medium; a waveform prediction unit for generating a prediction reproduction waveform by delaying a waveform indicating a record modulation component of the modulated light beam; a comparison unit for verifying whether the data is correctly recorded by comparing the waveform of a signal output from the optical detector with the prediction reproduction waveform; and a delay detection unit for controlling the amount of delay by the waveform prediction unit on the basis of the delay time of the waveform of the signal from the optical detector for the waveform indicating the record modulation component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
