A cap (101) for a medication container (102) includes a housing with a top portion (201) and a bottom portion (202). The top and bottom portions (201, 202) together define a cavity therebetween. A sliding plate (204) is disposed in the cavity adjacent the bottom portion (202). A microcontroller (203) with a contact sensor (205) is disposed in the cavity between the top portion (201) and the sliding plate (204). The sliding plate (204) is configured to slide toward and activate the contact sensor (205) where the cap (101) is secured to the medication container (102) in a closed state. The sliding plate (204) is also configured to slide away from and not activate the contact sensor (205) where the cap (101) is removed from the medication container (102) in an open state. |
