Disclosed are a multimedia device and a control method thereof. The multimedia device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a camera for obtaining an image; a microphone for receiving an external acoustic signal and converting the external acoustic signal into electrical audio data; a memory for storing audio data corresponding to each voice of first and second users and image data corresponding to each face of the first and second users; a display unit; and a control unit including a voice recognition unit and a face recognition unit. The control unit virtually divides the display unit into at least two areas, controls the display unit to output first content to a first area and second contents to a second area among the at least two areas, identifies the first and second users by using at least one from the image data obtained by the camera and the audio data obtained by the microphone based on at least one of the stored audio data and image data, outputs a function execution result corresponding to a first user command to the first area if the first user command is inputted from the identified first user, and outputs a function execution result corresponding to a second user command to the second area if the second user command is inputted from the identified second user. |
