<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a ball bearing and a ball bearing capable of achieving low torque. <P>SOLUTION: In the retainer for the ball bearing, which is made of a resin, semispherical pockets 12 for storing balls 4 are formed at circumferential portions of the opposing surfaces 11 of two axially symmetric annular bodies 10 and the two annular bodies 10, 10 are joined together while the opposing surfaces 11 are made to abut against each other. The inner peripheral surface of each of the semispherical pockets 12 is provided with a ball contact surface 30 and non-ball contact surfaces 31. The ball contact surface 30 is formed at the center of the inner peripheral surface in the circumferential direction of the pocket, at least at the center in the axial direction of the pocket. The non-ball contact surfaces 6 are configured as recesses 32 which are recessed further toward the side opposite the ball than the ball contact surface 30, and the recesses 32 are open at least at one end in the axial direction of the pocket. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
