An image search assistant embodied in one or more machine accessible storage media and comprising instructions executable by a computing system comprising one or more computing devices to, in response to a selection of a query image: determine, by executing a plurality of different feature detection algorithms on the query image, a combination of different visual features depicted in the query image; and execute a matching algorithm to measure the similarity of the combination of visual features of the query image to indexed visual features of a collection of images, wherein the indexed visual features are determined by executing the feature detection algorithms on images in the collection of images and executing an indexing algorithm to create an index of the visual features in the collection of images; and based on the execution of the matching algorithm, interactively identify, by a human-computer interface device of the computing system, one or more images in the collection of images matching the combination of visual features depicted in the query image.
