515,832. Baths; aerating liouids; water-softening. WILLIS, F. W., and SIMPSON, A. March 14, 1938, No. 7804. [Classes 26 and 46] [Also in Groups XXI and VI] In the production of an aerated liquid spray or foam suitable for water-softening, bathing, and other purposes, the requisite gas is compressed and supplied to the aerating apparatus by the action of a head of water or a falling weight. In apparatus for providing an aerated shower bath, Fig. 3, water under pressure is passed into a closed tank 19 by a pipe 20, and compresses the air contained in the tank. The air is forced through a pipe 25a into a closed mixer 23, where it meets, and aerates, hot and/or cold water supplied to the mixer by pipes 29, 30 and a pipe 28. The aerated water passes by pipes 26, 27 to spray pipes 26a, 27a. The joints between the pipes 26, 27 and 26a, 27a may be arranged as valves, which open when the latter pipes are turned to horizontal, operative, position. Soap or other material may be placed in the mixer 23 to give the spray or foam any desired character. When the tank 19 is full of water, it must be drained and the operation can then be repeated. Wire gauze may be arranged in the mixer and in the pipes 26a, 27a. In a modification, Fig. 2, air is compressed in a cylinder 12 by a falling weight 14, which is raised by a cable 15 and may be held in raised position by a pawl and ratchet 18a, 18.
