PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing cancer, or preventing preeclampsia in a pregnant woman.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method comprising an agent which can modulate Clever-1 receptor on the type 3 macrophage cell in an individual. More particularly, the invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition a) for treating or preventing cancer by reducing the size of a malignant tumor in an individual and/or reducing proliferation of a malignant tumor in an individual; or b) for preventing pregnancy complication, preeclampsia in a pregnant woman. In a), the agent can neutralize the influence of Clever-1 protein or can down-regulate the expression of Clever-1 protein. In b), the agent i) can up-regulate the expression of the Clever-1 protein, or stimulate the protein, or ii) is the type 3 macrophage cultured in vitro.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A |
