PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel biopsy device for acquiring a biopsy tissue sample.SOLUTION: The biopsy device comprises: a body; a needle extending distally relative to the body, wherein the needle defines a first lumen and a second lumen 28, and wherein the needle includes an opening fluidly coupling the first lumen with the second lumen; a cutter 50 configured to translate relative to the needle to sever tissue; a vent opening 208 in communication with atmospheric air; and a shuttle valve slider 152 disposed between a first integral member and a second integral member of the cutter, wherein the first integral member is operably configured to drive the shuttle valve slider to a first position, the second integral member is operably configured to drive the shuttle valve slider to a second position, the second lumen is coupled with the vent opening when the shuttle valve slider is in the first position, and the second lumen is sealed relative to the vent opening when the shuttle valve slider is in the second position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
