PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which can transfer and output captured test image data that is used for correction of an ink jet head, with simple configuration, and to provide an inkjet recording device.SOLUTION: The image reader reads an image generated with an ink jet head that forms an image by causing a plurality of nozzles to eject ink droplets onto a recording medium conveyed in a predetermined conveyance direction. The image reader comprises an imaging section that captures an image output by the ink jet head, an imaging data output section that divides the captured image data into a plurality pieces of area data in a width direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the recording medium and serially transfers and outputs the captured image data for each area data, and an output control section that controls the transfer and output. The output control section performs a switch control for selectively transferring and outputting a part of the plurality pieces of area data, and outputting area data of preset necessary range related to a test image. |
