The present invention relates to a dual type light emitting element, a light emitting element package, a backlight unit, and a lighting device for a display or lighting purpose. The dual type light emitting element comprises: a substrate for growth; a first light emitting structure unit which is firstly grown on a first surface of the substrate for growth and has a first active layer performing an emitting action between a plurality of semiconductor layers; and a second light emitting structure unit which is grown on a second surface of the substrate for growth and has a second active layer performing an emitting action between the semiconductor layers. A reflecting surface can be formed on the first light emitting structure unit to guide light which is generated from the first light emitting structure unit to the second light emitting structure unit via the substrate for growth.
