The invention relates to the use of at least one member selected from the group consisting of: a. alpha-ketoglutaric acid (AKG); b. pharmaceutically acceptable salts of alpha-ketoglutaric acid; c. amides of an amino-acid, a dipeptide or a tripeptide and alpha-ketoglutaric acid and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; and d. pharmaceutically acceptable physical mixtures of alpha-ketoglutaric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and at least one amino acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical preparation or a food or feed supplement for the treatment of hypertension or pulmonary hypertension improving blood vessel elasticity in a subject in need thereof. |
