PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting users and an image forming device that can easily detect a user, using a simply-designed distance sensor, without requiring a signal processor having a high level of computing power.SOLUTION: An image forming device (1) includes a distance sensor (10) detecting a user on the basis of distance information on a detected object (2), and a controller (40) having a user determination unit (44) for controlling the distance sensor (10). The user determination unit (44) has a first detection region (441), a second detection region (442), and a third detection region (443), and determines that the detected object (2) is a user if it has been detected in the first detection region (441), determines whether the detected object (2) is a user based on a detected distance and rate of the detection object (2) if it has been detected in the second detection region (442), and determines that the detected object (2) is not a user if it has been detected in the third detection region (443).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
