A display apparatus comprises: a display panel including a first display area and a second display area; a first control driver receiving a first data signal, controlling to display an image in the first display area, and generating a first histogram in response to the first data signal; a second control driver receiving a second data signal, controlling to display an image in the second display area, and generating a second histogram in response to the second data signal; and a backlight unit providing light to the display panel. The first control driver receives the second histogram from the second control driver, and generates a backlight control signal to control the brightness of the backlight unit based on the first and second histograms.
