The invention relates to a module (1) for monitoring a water dispensing device. Said module includes: - at least one sensor (8) for sensing a parameter value for operation or the status of the dispensing device; - a housing (13) containing means (14) for wirelessly transmitting said value of the parameter, said transmission means including a unit for transmitting messages within the ISM frequency band; and - means (13) for attaching the housing to the dispensing device. The monitoring module (1) is designed to adopt two different operational modes, namely: - an active mode, in which the transmission means (14) transmit messages and the monitoring module (1) uses less than 80 mA; and - a standby mode, in which the transmission means (14) does not send messages and the monitoring module (1) uses less than 1 mA. The invention also relates to the monitoring of water dispensing devices.
