PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technology capable of creating a full focus image having excellent image quality by inhibiting the area of cells and a cell colony included in an image from being erroneously determined from the peripheral area thereof.SOLUTION: Sets of pixels corresponding to the same position are composed of a plurality of original images acquired by changing a focal position in a depth direction to multiple steps. The maximum value of a density value, the dispersion, and the maximum value of edge intensity of pixels included in each pixel set are respectively acquired to create gray masks 1 to 3, and a gray mask 4 is created by synthesizing the gray masks. The gray mask 4 is made to act on a candidate image reconstructed by pixels having maximum density in each pixel set to acquire the final output image. The output image generally maintains the density value of the candidate image inside the cell colony, and on the other hand, in the peripheral area of the cell colony, the density value becomes low, thereby a full focus image in which the contour of the cell colony is clear can be acquired. |
