<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device that does not need an external power source. <P>SOLUTION: The position detection device includes a magnetic body layer having magnetization, and a conductive pattern film formed on the magnetic body layer and containing a material having a spin orbital interaction. The conductive pattern layer extends in a direction of crossing the magnetization direction of the magnetic body layer, and comprises a plurality of conductive lines which cross each other on a plane. By heating or cooling an optional point of the magnetic body layer, the temperature in the magnetic body layer is modulated. Thus, a Spin seebeck effect is induced and an electric field is generated in the conductive pattern film. Information on a two dimensional position of the temperature modulation is estimated from electric potential change associated with the generation of the electric field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
