[Also in Division F4] In a multi-stage reciprocating piston refrigeration compressor having at least one low pressure stage 5 provided with a suction inlet 12 and a discharge line 16 communicating with the suction inlet 20 of a high pressure stage 6, and in which lubricant is contained in a crankcase 24, the crankcase is interconnected with the suction inlet 12 through ports 32 and with the discharge line 16 through ports 31. The provision of ports 32 lowers the pressure existing in the crankcase during compressor operation and thus induces oil to flow from the discharge line 16 to the crankcase 24 through the ports 31.
