摘要 Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles include a traction battery to provide vehicle power. The battery may be operated in a charge-depleting mode and require recharging from an external power source. Fast charging of the traction battery is achieved by allowing a charging voltage greater than a recommended charging voltage. The charging voltage is based on the charging current and an internal resistance of the traction battery. The resistance value may be estimated during charging to allow a dynamic maximum charging voltage. Charging may be terminated based on voltage, temperature, state of charge or time criteria. The fast charging allows the traction battery to be charged in a relatively fast period of time.
