This radar device is attached to a vehicle in a manner so as to include the direction 90° from the forward-backward direction of the vehicle in the detection range thereof, and transmits/receives radar waves. The radar device detects an observation point relative speed, which is the relative speed of an observation point that reflects radar waves and is within the detection range, and an observation point bearing, which is the bearing of the observation point. The radar device also determines that a moving object was detected in the case that the formula V < Vs·sin(θ-φ) is satisfied, where φ is the attachment angle, which is the tilt angle of the central axis of a reception antenna that receives radar waves with respect to the width direction of the vehicle, V is the observation point relative speed, θ is the observation point bearing, and Vs is the traveling speed of the vehicle. |
