A colostomy appliance consisting of two pouches, an inner plastic pouch to collect the faecal waste, and an outer pouch 100 to receive the inner pouch. The outer bag is made of a breathable material, preferably a polyethylene infused nonwoven material treated with titanium dioxide. The inner or liner pouch is made of plastic material, e.g. a polymeric film which preferably flushable and biodegradable. The outer pouch has an opening 110 for inserting the inner bag, the opening is closable and sealable. The outer pouch may be sprayed on the inside with odour control chemical to reduce the faecal odour. On the other side of the outer bag to the opening a ring (140 Fig 2) may be embedded to allow attachment to the stoma. The inner bag may have ventilation holes (220 Fig 3), a seal 230 and an indicator band 210 for helping to locate the fixing position. |
