The present invention relates to a method for determining a virtual tollgate in accordance with a running speed and the topography which can minimize a virtual tollgate determination error by a topographic feature of the virtual tollgate by determining the virtual tollgate with consideration for the running speed of a vehicle. The method for determining whether the vehicle passes through the virtual tollgate or not in a user terminal comprises the steps of: (a) searching for a virtual tollgate of the shortest distance while driving; (b) checking a preset section of acquiring the average running speed of a main line in order to determine whether the vehicle passes through the virtual tollgate searched by the step of (a) or not; (c) acquiring the average running speed of the main line when entering the section of acquiring the average running speed checked by the step of (b); (d) checking whether the vehicle enters the virtual tollgate; (e) acquiring the average running speed of an expansion route when the vehicle enters the virtual tollgate based on the checked result of the step of (d); and (f) comparing the average running speed of the main line with the average running speed of the expansion route, and determining whether the vehicle passes through the virtual tollgate or not based on the comparison result. |
