[Also in Division F1] In compound eccentric mechanism particularly for causing the axis 33, Fig. 2, of a bore 36 receiving a shaft 22 to be adjusted rectilinearly along a radius relatively to a casing 21, the bore 36 is formed eccentrically in a member 35 rotatably adjustable in the eccentric bore of a toothed disc 26 which is itself rotatably adjusted in the casing 21 by a pinion 25, the disc 26 and member 35 being coupled by gearing ensuring that for each forward angular adjustment of the disc 26 the member 35 is reversely adjusted by the same amount. The gearing may comprise a stepped planet pinion pair 28-29 carried by the disc 26 and rolling respectively on a fixed gear rim 30 and a toothed portion of member 35. As shown, the compound eccentric mechanism is duplicated in the casing 21 to provide bearings for a shaft 22 driving the vanes 23 of a rotary vane pump, radial adjustment of the bearing eccentricity, by means of the pinion shaft 24, varying the pump output without changing the position of the inlet and outlet apertures (not shown). In a modification, wherein an eccentric 57, Fig. 5d, is mounted on an eccentric 56 loose on a stationary shaft 58, the eccentric 56 carries a segment 52 engaging an adjusting rack 53, and the eccentric 57 is secured to a gear-wheel 54 rolling in a fixed toothed rim 55. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the coupling between two eccentrically bored members comprises a planetary pinion fixed concentrically to the inner member and rolling within a stationary toothed rim. As shown in Fig. 6, the reverse rotation of an eccentrically bored member 68, in an eccentric bore of a member 61 adjusted by a pinion 63 is effected by a link 69 pivoted to a gear 64 carried by the member 61 and rolling in a fixed annulus 65. |
