PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flood light and a vehicle head light that can ensure high power output at low electric power and very long life, and that are simple in structure and compact.SOLUTION: A flood light using a light emitting diode 1 and a vehicle head light using the same are provided. A light source support 6 includes: an upper structure that is of a thick cylindrical shape and in which an aluminum plate having a flat portion formed to shading walls A and B to which a semiconductor substrate mounting thereon a light emitting diode 1 is fixedly attached; and a lower structure that is of a thin cylindrical shape and that includes a short aluminum heat radiation-heat transfer rod 6-1, and the upper structure and the lower structure are coupled integrally. The short aluminum heat radiation-heat transfer rod 6-1 of the light source support 6 is fitted into an aluminum heat radiation pedestal 8 having a hollow central portion via a cap 7, and cooled by heat radiation of the aluminum light source support 6, heat radiation of the aluminum heat radiation pedestal 8, and convection of air in the hollow portion of the heat radiation pedestal 8, thereby releasing heat generated from the light emitting diode 1. |
