The invention relates to an unloading system (1) and a method for unloading a tire tread carrier (2), wherein the tire tread carrier (2) comprises a plurality of plates (30), wherein each plate is arranged for supporting at least one tread (9) for a tire, wherein the unloading system (1) comprises an arm (8) with a retaining device (81) for picking up and retaining treads, wherein the arm (8) is provided with a lifting device (83) that is arranged to move together with the arm for lifting one of the plates (30), wherein a control system is arranged for controlling a drive system to position the arm (8) in a starting position in which the lifting device extends at least partially underneath said one plate (30) and to subsequently move the arm (8) upwards such that the lifting device is moved towards a lifting position, thereby lifting said one plate (30) from the closed position towards the open position. |
