PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing composite lithium titanate powder which can exhibits a high rate characteristic when being used as a negative electrode material of a lithium ion battery.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing composite lithium titanate powder comprises the steps of: baking a mixture of titania powder, lithium compound powder and carbon powder in an inactive atmosphere at 600-1,000°C, thereby obtaining carbon-containing lithium titanate powder including lithium titanate secondary particles and carbon particles in the lithium titanate secondary particles; subsequently, putting the carbon-containing lithium titanate powder into contact with a thermosetting resin solution under a reduced pressure, thereby impregnating the thermosetting resin solution into the secondary particles included in the carbon-containing lithium titanate powder; and then, drying and hardening the resultant powder impregnated with the thermosetting resin solution, thereby pyrolyzing the thermosetting resin in an inactive atmosphere. |
