In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for storing documents that are being tracked in an on-demand service. These mechanisms and methods for storing documents in an on-demand service can enable embodiments to provide the sharing of documents and the storing of the documents in association with a tag. The ability of embodiments to provide the sharing of documents and the storing can enable an efficient searching for a shared document. In an embodiment, the shared document is categorized upon being stored.

receiving, by a system from a device of a user, a request for a webpage having information on documents stored by the system; in response to the request, identifying by the system a subset of the documents stored by the system that are relevant to the user; generating, by the system, the webpage to have information on each of the documents in the identified subset, the information for each of the documents in the identified subset including:
a link to the document,a preview of the document, anddata describing the document; andsending, by the system to the device of the user, the generated first webpage.
