The invention relates to a method and a device for producing synthetic fully drawn yarns (FDY) by drawing and relaxing a plurality of freshly spun yarns. The yarns that are spun and solidified by a spinning device and a cooling device are guided together, as a yarn group, around the circumference of a plurality of driven godet casings. The yarns make contact with the godet casings with a <360° partial wrapping, are thermally treated on the surfaces of the godet casings, and are guided freely with at least one difference in speed between said godet casings. According to the invention, in order for yarns to be produced that can be dyed to a high quality, the yarns are drawn between a first warmed godet casing and a second heated godet casing in a free tensioning section, before being guided and relaxed between the second heated godet casing and a third heated godet casing in a first free relaxing section and between the third godet casing and a fourth godet casing in a second free relaxing section. In order for the drawn yarns to be relaxed they are thermally treated with a total contact length against the godet casings that is greater, by a multiple in the range of three to seven, than a free yarn length in the relaxing sections. The second, third and fourth godet casings are heated to a surface temperature in the range of 120°C to 250°C, preferably 150°C to 250°C. |
