SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING SECURE DATA TRANSMISSION BETWEEN NETWORKED COMPUTING SYSTEMS

The disclosed embodiments include methods and systems that provide secure data transmission between networked computing systems by obfuscating sensitive customer account data with placeholder account data generated in real-time and without customer intervention. The disclosed embodiments may include a computerized device that monitors user input to detect an initiation of a purchase transaction at a merchant, and upon detection of the initiated purchase transaction, may obtain a placeholder account suitable for use in the purchase transaction and capable of masking a user's sensitive account information without user intervention. In some instances, a system of a financial institution may activate and fund the placeholder account in real time and in an amount consistent with a transaction amount of the purchase transaction. Devices consistent with the disclosed embodiments may request execution of the initiated purchase transaction in accordance with the activated and funded placeholder account.

1. A device, comprising:
a storage device; and at least one processor coupled to the storage device, the storage device storing instructions for controlling the at least one processor when executed by the at least one processor, the at least one processor being operative with the instructions to:
monitor data input into the device by a user;detect an initiation of a purchase transaction by the user;obtain transaction information and payment information from the monitored data, the transaction information identifying the purchase transaction, and the payment information identifying a payment instrument involved in the purchase transaction;receive, from a first system, data identifying a placeholder account associated with the user, the placeholder account being activated for use in the initiated purchase transaction in accordance with the transaction information;modify at least a portion of the payment information to include portions of the received placeholder account data; andperform operations that transmit, across a network to a second computer system associated with the merchant, a request to execute the initiated purchase transaction in accordance with the modified payment information.
