The purpose of the present invention is to provide austenitic stainless steel which has high strength and high corrosion resistance, improves irradiation resistance, and reduces irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking. The means of solving said problem is as follows. This austenitic stainless steel contains, in weight ratios, Cr in the amount of 16-26%, Ni in the amount of 8-22%, O in the amount of 0.02-0.4%, C in the amount of 0.08% or less, and N in the amount of 0.1% or less, and contains one or more of Zr in the amount of 0.2-2.8%, Ta in the amount of 0.4-5.0%, and Ti in the amount of 0.2-2.6%, with Fe and inevitable impurities constituting the remainder. This austenitic stainless steel is characterized in that the Zr, Ta and Ti are deposited as one or more types of deposit including oxide particles, carbide particles, nitride particles, and composite particles thereof. |
