Cellular material, e.g. rubber, having closed cells is formed in a mould by mixing with a blowing agent, introducing it into a mould, together with an inert fluid, and expanding the material, whilst allowing the fluid to escape gradually. The fluid may be a liquid, e.g. mercury or silicene oil or a gas, e.g. nitrogen, under pressure. The fluid may be returned to the mould after expansion to eject the article. |
