A position detection device comprising two sensors using different detection methods, said position detection device using a configuration having these two sensors and configured so as to simply and appropriately input various types of information. A position indicator (2) comprises resonant circuits (210, 220) capable of detecting the presence of the position indicator (2) by using a first sensor unit (1C), even if either end section of a case (21) faces the position detection device. The position indicator (2) comprises a cap (conductive rubber) (221) provided in one of the end sections of the case (21), said cap being for enabling detection of the presence of the position indicator (2) by using a second sensor unit (1E), if said one end section is brought close to the position detection device. A control circuit (CT3) for display, etc., changes processing in accordance with an output signal, depending on whether supply of the output signal has been received only from one of the first and second sensor units (1C, 1E) or whether the output signal has been received from both. |
