PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery power supply system and method for optimizing use of a fuel battery by efficiently using energy.SOLUTION: A fuel battery power supply system 1 electrically connected to a public benefit energy supply source and a load through a utility bus comprises: an inverter 15; a fuel battery 11; and a standby battery 13. The fuel battery supplies electric energy to the utility bus; a control unit 12 determines whether or not power needed by the load 3 is larger than output power of the fuel battery. When a determination condition is satisfied, the inverter is actuated. Output power of the inverter is equal to difference between the power needed by the load and the output power of the fuel battery.
