The present invention relates to a lighting unit block movement controlling method for an FPD cell inspection apparatus. The method is used to selectively use a probe unit block of the FPD cell inspection apparatus according to the type of a device and the size of an FPD cell used as an inspection target and to automatically move an idle probe unit block to an avoidance location. The method includes; a motorized probe unit (MPU) scanning process of being switched to a conveying preparation state in an MPU unit which conveys an MPU and obtaining the location information of the MPU through a scanning process; an MPU determining process of determining an inspection MPU according to the type of the device and the size of the FPD cell used as the inspection target after completing the MPU scanning process; an MPU avoidance process of moving the MPU having an inspection area thereon to an avoidance location in an MPU avoidance operation; and a designated MPU location moving process of moving the MPU from the current location to a designated location.
