<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a glass preform for an optical fiber with high yield.SOLUTION: In the production method of a glass preform 13, the glass preform 13 is produced through a fixing process, a deposition process, a pulling process, a clarification process and a consolidation process, in the order. In the deposition process, when being partitioned by a prescribed position P1 where a distance in the direction from one end 12a (position P2) of a seed rod pipe 12 to a tip part 11a (position P0) of a starting rod 11 is 30 mm or more, the moving speed when glass fine particles are deposited in a second range from the position P1 to a position P3 over a part of the seed rod pipe 12 is made lower than the moving speed when the glass fine particles are deposited in a first range over the tip part 11a (position P0) of the starting rod 11 from the position P1.</p> |
