PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that character visibility may be impaired and a reduction target of color material consumption may not be achieved only by concentration adjustment during color material saving.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an acceptance means for accepting an instruction of color material saving processing; and a processing means for carrying out processing for reducing concentration of a character part extracted from image data and increasing size of the character part upon receipt of the instruction of the color material saving processing.
