A method for operating a data storage device comprises the following steps: receiving information on the size of an area required for data transaction from a host; calculating the sum of the size of a first area available in an area invisible to a user and the size of a second area available in an area visible to the user based on the size information; and transmitting, to the host, a response which instructs whether the data transaction is available or not, based on the calculation result. |
