PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save computer resources caused when generating an image of a subject obtained at a desired viewpoint position.SOLUTION: An image generation method includes: a feature point detection step for detecting feature points of a subject from a plurality of original images; a correspondence point detection step for detecting a feature point common among a plurality of images among the feature points of the original images as a correspondence point; and an image generation step for performing projection processing of the correspondence point in a three-dimensional space with a viewpoint position of an imaging device that photographs the original images as a projection center, estimating a position or a range where the correspondence point exists on the three-dimensional space, setting a projection surface including the position or the range, generating a plurality of projection images by performing projective transformation of each original image about the projection surface, calculating the color or luminance information of the subject at each point on the projection surface by a synthetic calculation of the color or the luminance information of the plurality of projection images, and generating a reference viewpoint position image by performing a synthetic calculation of the color information or the luminance information of each pixel on projection surfaces, having overlapping when seen from a reference viewpoint in the case that a plurality of projection surfaces exist. |
