PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of discriminating a cell to which a brightness point present in a superimposed region belongs and generating accurate diagnosis support information.SOLUTION: A diagnosis support information generation method for determining a quantity of a specific biological substance and generating diagnosis support information from a sample colored using a fluorescent substance and a biological substance recognition region recognizing the biological substance connected to the fluorescent substance, comprises: a step of calculating a position of the biological substance from a fluorescent image in which the expression of the biological substance in the sample is represented by a fluorescent brightness point; a step of extracting a superimposed region in which a plurality of specific cell regions are superimposed from the fluorescent image or a bright field image obtained by imaging the same visual field range as the fluorescent image; and a step of discriminating whether the biological substance is present in the superimposed region, the method comprising a belonging discrimination step of discriminating which of the cell regions superimposed in the superimposed region the biological substance present in the superimposed region belongs to if it is discriminated that the biological substance is present in the superimposed region.
