A replaceable tread ring 1 includes a circumferentially inextensible mixture 3 formed by a helically-wound metal cord having the convolutions substantially parallel to the mid-circumferential plane, and two layers 4, 5 are on each side of cincture 3, each made of parallel metal cords arranged so that the cords of one layer cross those of the other and make an angle with said plane of between 25 and 65 degrees. Radially-inner layer 4 is at least as wide axially as the cincture and radially outer layer 5 has an axial width not greater than the cincture and not less than 60% thereof. |
