A communication terminal comprises: a communication unit (11) that selectively uses one of first and second communication schemes to perform communications; a determination unit (12) that determines whether any packet of another mode has been received in the communication unit (11); and a control unit (13) that performs a communication control such that, in a case where the first communication scheme is currently used in the communication unit (11), (i) when an address for entering a communication system using the first communication scheme is allocated, settles that the communication scheme of the communication unit (11) is the first communication scheme, and (ii) when no such address is allocated and it is determined that a packet of another mode has been received, shifts the communication scheme of the communication unit (11) to the second communication scheme.
