摘要 <p>An over-speed detection device (OSDD) and over-speed governor (OSG) for a stairlift (10, fig 1); the OSDD/OSG being tripped by flyweights 52 which displace from the rotational axis of the OSDD/OSG when subjected to over-speed. The flyweights 52 are also connected to a hub 49 in a manner wherein displacement of the flyweights 52 effects rotation of the hub 49. The hub is further connected to a trip slider (61, fig 6), wherein the trip-slider (61, fig 6) and hub 49 have inter-engaging helical surfaces 51 configured to cause axial displacement of the trip slider as hub 49 is rotated. The trip slider (61, fig 6) is positioned to contact the trip plate (70, figure 9a) which in turn engages a trigger plate (78, figure 9a), such that it is held against the bias of a spring (80, fig 9a). Outward displacement of the trip slider (61, fig 6) thus causes the trip plate (70, figure 9a) to be displaced out of contact with the trigger plate (78, fig 9a), which then displaces due to expansion of the spring (80, fig 9a). The safety gear is then deployed to engage the surface of the rail (12, fig 1), braking the carriage and bringing it to a halt. The OSDD/OSG is also mounted so that it takes its drive from a convex surface of the rail (12, fig 1) in negative transition bends (21, fig 1).</p>
