PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small image display device capable of properly displaying a virtual image with no use of an ocular optical system.SOLUTION: An image display device includes image modulation means which has a plurality of pixels and is capable of separately modulating a plurality of optical fluxes emitted from the plurality of pixels, and lens means which converts the plurality of optical fluxes emitted from the plurality of pixels into a plurality of parallel optical fluxes crossing with a point in a pupil of an observer. The image modulation means modulates the plurality of optical fluxes so that the plurality of parallel optical fluxes agree with an optical flux entering at a point in the pupil from a virtual pixel group provided on a virtual image plane. |
