The present invention relates to an inverter and a control method thereof and, more specifically, to an inverter, capable of generating a control signal by using independently sensed state information of an IGBT device as well as state information of a load side by a feedback of an output terminal since conditions of current and temperature of the IGBT device in real time, and to a control method thereof. To achieve the purpose, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the inverter comprises: multiple IGBT devices including a thermistor device for sensing temperature; a gate driver transmitting an operation signal to the IGBT devices; an IGBT controller connected to the gate driver, and receiving temperature information of the IGBT devices, sensed by the thermistor device, through the gate driver; an IGBT current sensor placed between the IGBT controller and the IGBT devices, and sensing current of the IGBT devices to transmit the current to the IGBT controller; a DSP controller periodically receiving the state information of the IGBT devices through the IGBT controller, and transmitting a PWM signal to correspond to the information; and a current sensor and a voltage sensor which are placed between an output terminal of the IGBT devices and the DSP controller, and sense a voltage and a current of the output terminal to transmit the current and the voltage to the DSP controller. |
