The present invention relates generally to the field of telecommunications systems and methods. More specifically, the present invention is directed to systems and methods for identifying and/or distributing music and other types of useful information for users in a very simple and convenient manner. A variety of systems and methods are disclosed which provide users with quick and convenient access to various forms of information, such as, for example, audio information including music and news items as well as coupons and other information. The systems and methods allow users to store data representative of a time of transmission and preferably a source of transmission so that data of interest may be identified for ordering an/or downloading.

1. A music ordering system for ordering digital copies of music comprising;
a portable battery powered electronic device which provides digital music storage and playback operations, the portable battery powered electronic device including a wireless internet connection module and a microprocessor; wherein the portable battery powered electronic device includes a computer program associated with a music identification system that is executed by the microprocessor, the computer program including a plurality of machine instructions, which when executed by the processor cause generation of an electronic communication in a predetermined format that is transferred via the wireless internet connection module to a predetermined music identification server using the internet, the electronic communication including digital information acquired by the portable battery powered electronic device requiring correlation with other information in order to identify a specific song corresponding to the digital information; the music identification server receiving and processing the electronic communication and wherein the music ordering system identifies music by performing a correlation operation on the digital information received by the music identification server included with the electronic communication using a correlation and identification computer processing device in order to generate digital music identification information corresponding to the digital information included with the electronic communication; a music identification response server causing transmission of a responsive communication to the portable battery powered electronic device via internet communication, the responsive communication including music identification information and link data for facilitating user preview and/or purchase of digital music identified by the music identification information.
