This technique relates to an image capture apparatus and an image capture method for enabling a user to perform his desired exposure corrections for high-dynamic-range combined images. Provided is an image capture apparatus comprising: an image capture unit that captures images of a subject and generates image capture data; an exposure correction amount establishment unit that establishes an exposure correction amount for correcting the exposure amount of the image capture unit; an exposure control unit that controls the exposure of the image capture unit on the basis of the established exposure correction amount; a signal combination unit that combines a plurality of pieces of image capture data, which have been obtained by the image capture unit capturing the images by use of a plurality of different exposure amounts, thereby generating combined data; a gray scale conversion unit that converts the gray scales of the generated combined data; and a gray scale control unit that controls, on the basis of the established exposure correction amount, the gray scale conversion performed by the gray scale conversion unit. This technique can be applied to an image capture apparatus having an exposure correction function, such as a digital still camera and the like. |
