An air release valve has an inlet 10 and an outlet 11 coaxial with one another and of approximately the same cross-sectional area, and a float valve element 1 proportioned to function as an adherent disc with respect to the inlet and having a cylindrical body with two end faces 2 and 3, at least one of which projects axially from the body by a distance not exceeding the radius of the cylindrical body, the float being movable in the chamber so that one face is directly engageable with the outlet, and the other face cannot engage the inlet because of a cage 8. The end faces may have different forms, e.g. they can be flat spherical or conical. They can also include an intermediate portion shaped as a zone of a sphere, or a frustum of a cone. |
