<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a cylinder axial dimension of an internal combustion engine provided with a variable valve train. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Since camshafts 26, 27 and a lost motion spring 47 are disposed in parallel in the cylinder axis L1 direction and sub-locker arms 31-35 are disposed at one side of the intake/exhaust direction of the camshafts 26, 27 and the lost motion spring 47 in a variable valve train of the internal combustion engine provided with the camshafts 26, 27, the sub-locker arms 31-35, and the lost motion spring 47, dimension in the cylinder axis L1 direction of the internal combustion engine can be miniaturized as compared with the case that the camshafts 26, 27, the sub-locker arms 31-35, and the lost motion spring 47 are piled up in the cylinder axis L1 direction.
